Programs for grades 2 - 4
LIMITED TO 12 CAMPERS

Animal Adaptations:
Grades 2-4 Sharks, snakes, insects, bats, turtles, oh my! Campers will discover why turtles have shells, why some insects have camouflage, and why rattlesnakes have rattles. They will learn how an animal's adaptation helps them survive in their environment. Campers will enjoy hunting insects, observing live animals, holding a sharks jaw, and more. Formerly-Nature Niches

DINOmite Discoveries:
Grades 2-4 Campers will become a paleontologist as we go on a fossil hunt, dig for bones, track dinosaur footprints, investigate extinctions, and re-create life size and replica dinosaurs. With lots of take home activities, this will be a fun-filled week of discovery.

Food Glorious Food:
Grades 2-4 Campers in this program will learn about science by using and making food. Activities include making bubble gum, ice cream, tie-dyeing with food pigments and edible rocks. They will learn about soil stratification, rocks, landforms, and more. Campers need to bring a white cotton t-shirt for tie-dye on Tuesday.

Early Encounters With Science:
Grades 2-4 This introductory program is especially designed for the budding young scientist of tomorrow. Campers will get a positive first impression as they perform exciting, hands-on activities in the four major branches of science:Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Physics. Campers will learn about plants, weight, displacement, air pressure, density of solids and liquids, polymers like plastic and snot, tornadoes and more.

Grades 3-4  NEW!

ALL GRADES AS LISTED ARE FOR THE GRADE NEXT YEAR 2012-2013
Programs for grades 3-4
LIMITED TO 14 CAMPERS

The Body Machine:   NEW!
Grades 3-4  Campers will learn more about the five major systems in the body by: making working models of your heart, lungs, stomach, and hand, and cooking up a batch of blood soup with a side of rubbery bones.  They will test the speed and accuracy of your body’s supercomputer and much more!

To Infinity and Beyond:   NEW!
Grades 3-4 Campers will explore the Universe as they take a galactic vacation.  Along the way, they will learn about human space exploration, our solar system, the moon, contellations, and types of galaxies.  Thay will make a 3-D solar system puzzle, moon phase flip booklet, rocket racers, and a space suit for a potato.

Grades 4-6

ALL GRADES AS LISTED ARE FOR THE GRADE NEXT YEAR 2012-2013
Programs for grades 4-6
LIMITED TO 14 CAMPERS

Math Magic:
Grades 4-6 Discover the magic of math. Campers will learn mathematical card tricks, create designs, build kaleidoscopes, discover the secrets of winning games, and much more. Math magic is your opportunity to have fun using math.

Xtreme Earth
Grades 4-6 Campers will explore several of the Earth's most exciting natural phenomena, including meteorology, geology, oceanography, and astronomy. The creation and use of models (some edible!) will help campers discover the dynamic forces around the Earth. Campers will take home a rain gauge, a cloud chart, crystals, a mineral/rock collection, and a moon phase chart.

It's Alive!:
Grades 4-6 Campers will experience the wonders of life and its processes through exploration of the microscopic world and terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Activities include observation of pond water organisms, creating terrariums, aquariums, and worm towers, snail races, and owl pellet dissections. Campers will have an opportunity to take home live animals in the ecosystems they have created for them.

Grades 5-7 & 5-9

ALL GRADES AS LISTED ARE FOR THE GRADE NEXT YEAR 2012-2013
Programs for grades 5-9
LIMITED TO 14 CAMPERS

CSI:SDC:
Grades 5-7 Who done it? Campers will learn and use the techniques and materials used in crime scene investigations. They will solve a variety of crimes by analyzing fingerprints, fiber samples, footprints, plant and soil samples, handwriting, DNA, and more to determine what happened and who might have done it.

Up & Away:  NEW!
Grades 5-7  What propels a bottle rocket?  How do kites and planes fly?  Campers will build kites, hot air balloons, different types of planes and rockets.  Then they will conduct test flights and discover principles of powered and un-powered flights.

PHUN with Physical Science:
